Her unique expertise in epidemiology, internal medicine, and pediatrics has earned her respect and recognition throughout her field. Dr. Mili’s ongoing career at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention includes positions in the Division of Global HIV and Tuberculosis such as a senior medical epidemiologist since 2016 and a mentor in epidemiology and surveillance since 2017. Dr. Mili previously worked for the CDC as a mentor teacher in epidemiology and biostatistics from 2009 to 2014 and a medical epidemiologist for the Division of Blood Disorders from 2009 to 2016,
Prior to her tenure at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Mili worked as a lecturer at Emory University from 1993 to 1994 and later at the Morehouse School of Medicine in 1998. She also served as a graduate teaching assistant in epidemiology and biostatistics at Emory University from 1992 to 1994. Her early career included instructing courses such as “Epidemiology in Action” and “The Epidemic Intelligence Service Summer Course” at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the early 1990s. Dr. Mili’s commitment to ongoing education has been a cornerstone of her professional journey, as her sharp analytical skills and research capabilities have contributed significantly to her success.
Dr. Mili supported her own ambitions with her formal academic efforts, having initially obtained a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Geneva in 1981. She continued her studies with a Master of Public Health in epidemiology from Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in 1989 before completing a postdoctoral fellowship with the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 1989 to 1991. Dr. Mili would conclude her educational pursuits in 1997, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in epidemiology from Laney Graduate School at Emory University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Mili has been recognized with numerous accolades from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including the Excellence in Epidemiology – Domestic Award and the Excellence in Emergency Response – Domestic Toby Merlin Award in 2021. Her scholarly contributions include co-authoring numerous publications on topics ranging from blood safety programs to genetic epidemiology methods, solidifying her outstanding reputation as a leading researcher in her field. Beyond her primary responsibilities, Dr. Mili remains engaged with The American Humane Society and National Public Radio, reflecting her commitment to making a positive impact beyond her immediate professional sphere.
Outside of her professional positions, Dr. Mili enjoys reading, music, exploring family genealogy, biking, swimming, cooking, sports, and playing classical piano in her spare time. As she approaches retirement, she remains determined to continue making a difference through her community contributions and her consulting while dedicating more time to athletic and musical pursuits.
