Evelyne M. Davidson, MD, Principal Investigator of New Phase Research and Development, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical research.
From watching her parents excel in the medical field, Dr. Davidson has always felt drawn to become a doctor. Inspired by the profession and its inherent ability to help people, she chose to attend the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering. There, she earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering in 1983 and went on to obtain an MD from East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine in 1987. In accomplishing her medical school requirement, Dr. Davidson completed an internship by 1988, as well as a residency in internal medicine by 1990, both at the New Hanover Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Dr. Davidson is distinguished for her roles as a medical director as a principal investigator. In her work, Dr. Davidson is actively involved in the care of all clinical research subjects. She presents informed consent discussions, evaluates inclusion and exclusion criteria, performs protocol dictated examinations, and oversees the coordination of each trial. Dr. Davidson has also worked out of a private practice in Knoxville since 2009. Prior, she was a physician with Premier Medical Associates from 1998 to 2009 and with the Baptist Primary System from 1994 to 1998. She commenced her professional career in 1990 upon joining her father’s private practice. Dr. Davidson attributes the success of her career to her perseverance, as she never let any barrier interfere with where she wanted to get to or who she wanted to become. In five years’ time, she hopes to continue practicing and interacting with patients.
Dr. Davidson believes in building up the younger generation. She works to be a role model for African-American females in order to help them understand that no matter who you are or where you are from, it is possible to attain higher education and become a professional. She gives thanks to her parents, as well as her mentors, Dr. Drew and Dr. Hale, for instilling this message in her. In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities, Dr. Davidson holds membership with the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, National Medical Association, Tennessee Medical Association, Knoxville Academy of Medicine, Tennessee Medical Association, and Knoxville Academy of Medicine. She also spends time with The Links, Inc., as a tutor and mentor to children from elementary to high school.
