Through his work, he has found that many diseases have psychiatric causes, including skin diseases and allergies. Dr. Tawil refuses to be dependent on existing theories, and works to give patient the treatment that best suits him or her. To remain up to date on changes and developments in his field, he maintains memberships to the Hellenic Psychiatry Association, the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychosomatic Society, among others. He has also contributed numerous articles to professional journals.
Dr. Tawil became involved in his profession out of love for his fellow man, because he believes psychiatry is the specialty of love. He has fully dedicated himself to his work, and feels this devotion has been the source of his success. Holding numerous roles throughout his career, he was a staff member at the University of Athens Dromokaition Hospital, a researcher at the University of Athens, an assistant professor at a psychiatric clinic in Athens and a member of the Psychiatric Administrative Council in Athens, Greece. Dr. Tawil has most recently shared his expertise as an academic advisor for La Salle University. In preparation for his career, he earned an MD and a PhD in psychosomatics at the University of Athens in 1981 and 1986, respectively. As a Fulbright scholar, he also completed postgraduate coursework at the University of Wisconsin and Baylor University in 1991. As a further testament to his success, experience and stature, Dr. Tawil has been selected for inclusion in the 15th and 18th editions of Who’s Who in the World.
