Sandy Chuan, Physician and Partner at the San Diego Fertility Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in women’s health.
In grade school, Dr. Chuan was told by her biology teacher that she may have had a future in medicine. Following her immigration to the United States at the age of eight, that was one of the first times she had heard or even considered the possibility. As she grew up, she became passionate about science, which preluded her decision to pursue medicine after losing her father to Hepatitis B. Hoping to prevent others from facing the same fate, she enrolled at the University of California Irvine, earning a Bachelor of Science in biology and comparative literature. Later, in 2003, she acquired an MD from the University of California Los Angeles. In the subsequent years, Dr. Chuan completed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Loma Linda University Medical Center, which was followed by a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and fertility at the University of California.
Certified in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as reproductive endocrinology and fertility, Dr. Chuan has excelled as a physician and partner at the San Diego Fertility Clinic since 2012. She is additionally active with the National Charity League, the Make a Wish Foundation, and Operation Home Front. Moreover, Dr. Chuan maintains affiliation with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility, and the San Diego Medical Society.
Reflecting on her success, Dr. Chuan credits her passion for her work. Driven by human emotion, she loves to help others become parents and thrives on serving as an integral part of welcoming newborn babies to the world. Throughout her journey, she relied on her strengths in persistence and following her heart to get her to where she is today. In the coming years, Dr. Chuan plans to continue her work for as long as she can. As a testament to her success, she was named as America’s “Top Doctor” from 2017 until 2019.
