Under Dr. Saqr’s guidance, Life for Relief and Development has provided aid to nearly two million individuals in need annually, addressing emergencies such as earthquakes and other natural disasters, conflict zones, poverty, famine, and other catastrophes across numerous countries. The organization is also committed to supporting orphans, sponsoring approximately 14,000 each year, donating millions of dollars to medical facilities worldwide, and distributing food in over 35 countries annually. LIFE’s efforts further extend to educational initiatives, including partnerships with institutions like Aleppo University in northern Syria.
Before being named the chief executive officer, Dr. Saqr served as a board member for LIFE for Relief and Development for two years. His election to this position by a group of friends marked the beginning of his formal involvement with the organization. Dr. Saqr’s dedication and leadership qualities were quickly recognized, leading to his appointment as the president when a vacancy arose.
Established in the U.S. in 1992, LIFE for Relief and Development’s mission is to assist those in need, while making saving lives a priority for all humanity. Regardless of race, color, religion or cultural background, LIFE is dedicated to alleviating human suffering globally by providing food, water, temporary shelter, health care, education and other humanitarian services. Since its founding over 30 years ago, the nonprofit has continued to thrive, with offices in locations such as Yemen, Kenya, Malaysia and Somalia.
Dr. Saqr previously spent time in the classroom, where he served as a professor and staff member at The Ohio State University. He also taught medical courses at Columbus State Community College. His commitment to education is evident in his efforts to build a global network that supports those in need, while also focusing on educational initiatives. Additionally, Dr. Saqr practiced medicine as a physician in his native country of Egypt.
Dr. Saqr’s academic background laid a strong foundation for his career in nonprofit work and education. He earned a Doctor of Medicine in Egypt, where he initially practiced medicine. Dr. Saqr’s focus shifted from practicing medicine in Egypt to neuropathy upon relocating to the U.S. and acquiring a Doctor of Philosophy in neuropathology from The Ohio State University.
Further underscoring his dedication to humanitarian efforts, Dr. Saqr is a member of InterAction, where he collaborates with other leaders in the field to enhance the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations worldwide.
Throughout his career, Dr. Saqr has been recognized for his achievements and leadership. In 2024, LIFE for Relief and Development was named one of the Top 10 Best Companies of the Year under his stewardship. This accolade reflects the organization’s success in delivering critical aid and support globally. Dr. Saqr has also been featured in publications highlighting his success, including a recent article in The Enterprise World.
Looking ahead, Dr. Saqr envisions expanding his impact across 100 countries, aiming to double the number of individuals who benefit from his assistance.
