With nearly four decades of experience to her credit, Dr. Clement has carved out a distinguished career in occupational and environmental medicine. She currently excels as the chief executive officer at AsendMD LLC, a role she has held since 2023. In this capacity, she focuses on leveraging AI to enhance productivity, improve patient care quality, automate processes, and free up staff to focus on tasks that truly matter. Prior to this position, Dr. Clement served as the medical director at Battelle Memorial Institute from 2015 to 2024. Her career also includes notable roles as the director of clinical operations healthcare management for international markets from 1998 to 2000 and as a medical director with IBM from 1993 to 1994. She began her professional journey as a commissioner and epidemic intelligence service officer with the U.S. Public Health Service at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Clement’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Miami in 1976, followed by a Master of Science in environmental health and industrial hygiene in 1980, and a Doctor of Medicine in 1985, both from the University of Cincinnati.

Throughout her career, Dr. Clement has achieved significant milestones. She developed an HIV/AIDS program for Ford of South Africa and presented it at the United Nations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she managed health services and addressed the scarcity of N95 masks by overseeing the medical clearance process for 1,000 workers across 42 decontamination units nationwide. Additionally, she created six software applications for medical management, including one that monitored employees’ temperatures and alerted health services to any anomalies. She has gained considerable experience in software development through her roles at Abbott, Ford, Boeing, and Battelle. Notably, at Boeing, she created a training video for the hearing conservation program, facilitating the annual training of staff for approximately 40,000 hearing tests. She has also contributed to the inspirational book “Wake Up, Live the Life You Love” and produced the documentary film “Before They Die,” reflecting her dedication to addressing critical social and health issues.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Clement is actively involved with the American Heart Association, contributes to the Medical Student Scholarship Fund at the University of Cincinnati, supports the evaluation of medical school applicants, and has served as a TEDx speaker. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Her impressive undertakings have earned her recognition as the Black Engineer of the Year by STEM Minorities and Research Science in 2014 and an Award for Medical Leadership. Looking ahead, she aspires to become a leader in artificial intelligence. She emphasizes the importance of staying open to opportunities, as they often arise unexpectedly.
