George A. Kramer III, founder and chief executive officer at UltraVet Medical Devices LLC, owner at Neocor, veterinary cardiologist and chief of staff at Atlantic Coast New York Veterinary Specialists, and adjunct professor at Long Island University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in veterinary health care.

Dr. Kramer knew he wanted to become a veterinarian by the time he was four years old. Now, nearly 40 years into an esteemed career, he is more confident in that choice than ever. Dr. Kramer currently holds a variety of positions across multiple organizations, including veterinary cardiologist and chief of staff of Atlantic Coast New York Veterinary Specialists, where he has worked since 1989.

In 2011, Dr. Kramer founded UltraVet Medical Devices LLC, where he currently serves as the company’s chief executive officer. Through that company, he develops medical devices based on years of research into cardiology and respiratory diseases in animals. Most notably, Dr. Kramer has created a bronchial stent for dogs and devices meant to treat airway collapse and chronic mitral valve disease in dogs. He has been granted five patents, with a sixth in progress. In addition to saving the lives of animals, Dr. Kramer is working to get approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration to use his mitral valve disease devices on humans as well. To accomplish this, he launched a spinoff company named Neocor.

On top of his work as a veterinarian, researcher and inventor, Dr. Kramer contributes to uplifting the next generation in his industry. In 2018, he played a key role in the creation of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University. Since aiding in getting that institution off the ground, he has taken on the role of adjunct professor. Dr. Kramer has also served on the board of advisers for the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University since 2018.

Before beginning his career, Dr. Kramer sought a strong academic foundation. He earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Subsequently, Dr. Kramer completed an internship and a residency in internal medicine and cardiology at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center. He is certified in cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, further bolstering his expertise in the field.

In order to stay updated on developments affecting the world of veterinary medicine, Dr. Kramer has maintained professional affiliation with a number of pertinent organizations. He is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Kramer has presented speeches related to his research into mitral valve disease and was honored with an award by the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association in 2002.

Beyond his career, Dr. Kramer is a devoted husband and father to two children. Looking to the future, he is dedicated to continuing to create medical devices and seeking FDA approval to expand the usage of those devices. Building on his work with the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University, Dr. Kramer hopes to train interventional cardiologists around the world how to use his devices. He is eager to make a lasting impact in his field while also supporting his children as they grow and prepare for college.
