Trident Anesthesia Group is a physician-owned leader in anesthesia services in South Carolina that is committed to the “triple aim” of health care by optimizing patient care by enhancing the patient experience, improving overall population health, and reducing health care costs. In this capacity, she evaluates cases and patient histories, prepares the operating room, meets with patients for pre-anesthesia interviews, escorts them to the operating room, administers anesthesia, adjusts anesthesia post-surgery, and transfers patients to the recovery room. Her experience also includes serving as an anesthesiologist at Rainier Anesthesia Associates P.C., a specialized medical practice providing comprehensive anesthesia services, focused on delivering safe and effective patient care across various surgical and procedural settings, in 2023, and Virginia Mason Medical Center, a renowned healthcare facility in Seattle known for its innovative patient care, integrated approach to health services, and commitment to quality, with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.
Laying a solid educational foundation, Dr. Ference earned a Master of Public Health in infectious diseases and microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh and a Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1996. She completed her residency in anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a fellowship in pain management at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in 2001. She is also board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds memberships with the American Society of Anesthesiologists, a professional organization dedicated to advancing the practice of anesthesiology through education, research, and advocacy, ensuring the highest standards of patient care in the field, and the American Board of Anesthesiology, a certifying body that sets the standards for anesthesiology practice in the United States.
Reflecting on her path, Dr. Ference began her medical career with aspirations of becoming a surgeon; however, as an older student entering the field in her mid-30s, she faced various challenges and prejudices. Despite these obstacles, she realized that a career in anesthesia would allow her to remain involved in the medical and offer fulfilling opportunities. She takes great pride in her achievements, including completing medical school, obtaining a master’s degree, securing a fellowship, and relocating to Seattle for her career. She attributes her success to her unwavering perseverance and relentless pursuit of her goals. In the coming years, she is interested in exploring remote work opportunities in anesthesia and engaging in volunteer activities. While she is considering additional locum tenens opportunities and is open to positions outside of South Carolina, her current commitment is solely as a contract worker with Trident Anesthesia Group. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs and cats, running, swimming, snow skiing, and traveling. She also aspires to dedicate her time to fostering animals in need.
