With over 12 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Curtis has excelled as a tele-psychiatrist at Luminous Psychiatry since 2024, providing compassionate and effective mental health care to patients through remote consultations and innovative treatment approaches. Concurrently, she serves as an adjunct professor of psychiatry at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine, a position she has held since 2023. Alongside her clinical and academic roles, she has excelled as the owner and executive director at I THRIVE since 2019. I THRIVE leads initiatives and offers free resources to survivors of trauma, illness, and sexual violence.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Curtis pursued an education that laid a strong foundation for her career. Her academic journey commenced with the completion of a Bachelor of Science in biology with minors in chemistry and public health from Utah State University in 2010. Following this, she undertook an internal medicine internship at Providence St Vincent Medical Center from 2014 to 2015 and completed an allopathic medical degree from Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine in 2014. She then furthered her education by completing an adult psychiatry residency training program at the University of Utah from 2015 to 2019.
Following these accomplishments, Dr. Curtis continued to enhance her skills and knowledge through various certifications. She completed the Harvard Program for Refugee Trauma Certificate Program, the PRATI Ketamine Assisted Therapy Training, the California Institute of Integral Studies Certificate Program in Psychedelic Therapies and Research, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, MDMA Assisted Therapy for PTSD Training, and several others. Her commitment to ongoing education and professional development is evident in her diverse range of certifications, including those in acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and cognitive processing therapy.
Dr. Curtis has continuously demonstrated a deep commitment to civic engagement and philanthropic endeavors throughout her career. In 2018, she dedicated her time as a 12-week volunteer group cognitive processing therapist, providing therapeutic support to individuals in need. Additionally, she served as a volunteer assist team leader at Wings Seminars in 2007.
Dr. Curtis’ passion for service also led her to donate her time as a Fourth Street Homeless Clinic medical student volunteer at the University of Utah Office of Inclusion and Outreach from 2012 to 2013. Her dedication to health care outreach extends back to her early years as she concurrently served as a future doctor coordinator and volunteer from 2010 to 2013. Furthermore, she engaged in international volunteer work at the Glorious Orphanage and School for the Disabled, Mentally Ill in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania, Africa, in 2009.
In addition to her civic involvement, Dr. Curtis has received recognition for her contributions, including being named among the Top 50 Women Leaders in Utah in 2023. Looking ahead, she envisions further growth in her career and personal life. She also aims to establish her private practice, deepen her involvement in community service, and pursue opportunities for relaxation and personal development.
