George D. Norris, DVM, Veterinarian at Animal Hospital of Worthington, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in veterinary medicine.
With decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Norris is currently retired, having excelled as the founder of, and a veterinarian with, the Animal Hospital of Worthington in Ohio from 1976 to 1999. In this position, he was responsible for animal rehabilitation, dentistry, surgery, radiology and grooming services. In addition to these positions, he previously worked as a teacher of veterinary medicine at The Ohio State University for four years. Dr. Norris was also active as the owner of his own veterinary practice in Worthington, Ohio for seven years.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Norris pursued an education at The Ohio State University, from which he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1959. He concluded his studies at The Ohio State University in 1963, graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. During this time, Dr. Norris was appointed as the former president and house manager for the Sigma Chi International Fraternity.
Beyond his primary responsibilities, Dr. Norris has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate professional circles. Since 1976, he has found success as the co-founder of the Dublin Worthington Rotary Club. He has been affiliated with the U.S. Junior Chamber (also known as the Jaycees) and the American Animal Hospital Association. Likewise, Dr. Norris was the former president of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association in the 1980s and 1990s.
To support his professional efforts, Dr. Norris was recognized as the Outstanding Person of the Year by his local chapter of the U.S. Junior Chamber in Columbus, Ohio in 1968. He is incredibly proud of the breadth of his career, including holding a four-day convention at the Animal Hospital of Worthington, and his active life at his church, having been greatly inspired by a minister named Roy Burkhart. Looking toward the future, Dr. Norris hopes to continue enjoying his retirement while continuing to support his community.
