Since 2020, Dr. Clayton has excelled as a physician and the president of the East Tennessee Vein Clinic. In this capacity, she handles office procedures, including endovenous catheters, ambulatory phlebectomies and sclerotherapy, among others. Prior to this role, she was an ophthalmologist with the Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and Surgical Center from 2019 to 2020 and with the Baptist Eye Institute from 2017 to 2019. Dr. Clayton began her career in medicine as a resident physician at the Birmingham Baptist Medical Center in 2011, after which she garnered experience as a physician with Tennessee River Family Medicine from 2012 to 2013.
In preparation for her career, Dr. Clayton earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Tennessee in 2007. She graduated from the institution’s Health Science Center College of Medicine in 2011 with a Doctor of Medicine and completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Nassau University Hospital in 2016. In 2017, Dr. Clayton concluded her fellowship in ophthalmology at The Eye Institute of West Florida. Alongside her formal degrees, she is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist, a Registered Phlebology Sonographer and a diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, solving jigsaw puzzles, traveling, participating in church activities and spending time with her family.
