Over the course of her career, Dr. Ferreira has also authored several works related to her work in the field, including “Therapeutic Relations in the Psychoanalytic Modality” and “Inês de Castro Through Digital and Psychoanalytical Lenses A Bilingual Analysis.” Her most recent publication, “Cross Cultural Differences in the Manifestation of Transference Outside the Psychoanalytical Setting,” was published in the Journal of Psychological Science and Research in 2022.

Dr. Ferreira previously worked as a psychotherapy supervisor for the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis and Psychology from 1993 to 2010. Furthermore, she was a psychotherapist at the Columbia University health center from 1997 to 2009. At the onset of her career, she focused much of her efforts on education, operating as an assistant professor at the Pontifical Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between 1974 and 1975. In her other academic endeavors, Dr. Ferreira was a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine from 1985 to 2009.

As part of her dedication to her profession, Dr. Ferreira remains active as a member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Psychological Association and the American Psychoanalytic Association. Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, she pursued a formal education, originally earning a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Torino, Italy, in 1966. She subsequently continued her studies and ultimately earned a PhD in clinical psychology at Brigham Young University in 1979. Dr. Ferreira also holds a certificate in psychoanalysis from the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis & Psychology, which she received in 1985.

Well-regarded for her accomplishments, Dr. Ferreira was previously honored with a Teacher of the Year Award. Accounting for her achievements, she is most notably proud of her ability to develop strong, positive relationships with her patients as they traverse their respective healing processes. In the coming years, Dr. Ferreira looks forward to continuing her work in the field and helping others.
