Hailing from Nigeria, Dr. Otuechere obtained a Medical Doctor in 1982 from the University of Benin Faculty of Medicine. After immigrating to the United States in 1985, he completed residencies at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and subsequently earned a Master in Public Health from the University of California Los Angeles.
After thriving in private practice in Nigeria for over a decade, Dr. Otuechere founded the Valentine Medical Clinic in Riverside in 2009, a premier practice providing general health services and specializing in family planning, pediatrics and women’s health. He has contributed numerous articles to professional journals and garnered awards from the Riverside Medical Association. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Advisory Board for Training Nurse Practitioners at Loma Linda University.
Dr. Otuechere attributes his success to his parents for instilling in him the value of being disciplined. His father was the first person in their community to apply for a university education, which prompted a lot of younger people to strive for higher education. As a career highlight, he cites his founding of the Valentine Medical Clinic and building a hospital in Nigeria, where he hopes to return for his retirement years. In the immediate future, Dr. Otuechere’s goal is to continue to train more people in the medical field, especially the younger generation. He is also hoping for his children to be interested in the field of medicine.
