Dr. Faika Khan, President at UrgentWay, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical sciences.
Hailing from a family of doctors, Dr. Khan was inspired by her father, who was a gastrologist, as well as her uncles and aunts involved in the medical field. She had a couple of medical colleagues in college, where one student has a disease. Dr. Khan would take care of her and that inspired her to go into the medical sciences. In addition, a girl she was good friends with was diagnosed with stomach cancer, so being there for her and her family truly made her realize that is where she belongs. She also worked as an asylum seeker in helping people find shelters with other fellow colleagues. People were truly grateful for Dr. Khan’s work, they always opened up to her and gave her the confidence to be a doctor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from St. Peter’s College in 2002 and went on to achieve a Doctor of Philosophy from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007.
Since 2015, Dr. Khan has notably served as the president of UrgentWay. She has also been a faculty member at New York University, Northwell Hospital and New Mick University. Civically, she is active with the American Heart Association and the United Nations. As a testament to her success, Dr. Khan has received a Shoe Scholar Award, an award from the Global Health Symposium and an Award from Naviator. Reflecting on her career, a career highlight of hers was participating in the Global Health Symposium, which was part of a program she received an invitation. Dr. Khan attributes her success to herself, for having many exposures to the field during her college days and within her family. She also attributes it to hard work and having maturity at a young age to be where she is today.
