On a daily basis, Dr. Combs is involved with providing direct patient care, supervising physician assistants, providing emergency room and diabetes care. In this respect, he takes extra care in listening to his patients and seeing them as people rather than a number. To continue providing quality health care services, Dr. Combs stays current with medical literature and advancements, as well as attending conferences. He believes his faith, determination and compassion for human beings has aided in the success of his career.
Dr. Combs earned a DO from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Pikeville in 2004. He then served as a resident at the Norton Community Hospital. His latest position, as the Medical Director of the Veteran Affairs Clinic at the Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital augments more than a decade of previous experience. Prior to accepting this role, he was the Chief of Staff at the institution. Earlier in his career, Dr. Combs worked as the Chair of Medicine, Vice Chief of Staff, and the Director of Respiratory Medicine at the Russell County Medical Center. Furthermore, he has taught at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and served as an associate medical director at the Legacy Hospice.
Continuously committed to providing the best possible medical care, Dr. Combs maintains affiliation with the American Medical Association, the American College of Osteopathic Medicine, the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Physicians. On a civil level, he has been involved with the Russell County Rotary and Rotary International. In five years, Dr. Combs wants to continue to further educate his community on the complications of diabetes. He endeavors to teach more students and young adults about healthy lifestyles and self-defense.
