Christine M. Gasperetti, MD, Interventional Cardiologist at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in cardiology.

Dr. Gasperetti has found success in the field of cardiology, beginning her career in 1991 as an attending interventional cardiologist in the Department of Cardiology at the University of North Carolina Hospitals until 1993. In 1994, she proceeded to work for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, as the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory until 1998. During this time, she also was active as an assistant professor of medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She excelled as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, part of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, between 1999 and 2008. Transitioning from teaching, she joined the Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, New Jersey, in 1998, where she served as an attending physician until 2006 and continued as assistant chief of Invasive and Interventional Services between 2006 and 2008. She has practiced as an interventional cardiologist at Penn Medicine, a part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, since 2008.

Making education a priority, Dr. Gasperetti graduated from Harvard University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and mathematics, magna cum laude, after which she enrolled alongside a cohort of medical students at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she earned her Medical Doctorate. She completed her residency and internship at Boston City Hospital before becoming board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1987. She obtained additional certificates of completion in cardiovascular diseases in 1990 and interventional cardiology in 1991 from the University of Virginia. In addition, she was invited to become a fellow of the University of Virginia Medical Center in 1991. Looking toward the future, Dr. Gasperetti would like to obtain a degree in biomedical engineering.
