Rebecca M. Brown, MD, PhD, Neuro-Oncology Assistant Professor at The Mount Sinai Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in neurology.

Dr. Brown is an accomplished health care professional with more than 25 years of experience in her field. Since 2021, she has excelled as a neuro-oncology assistant professor at The Mount Sinai Hospital, before which she was a full-time instructor and fellow at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. From 2014 to 2017, Dr. Brown was a resident with the Mount Sinai Health System, and from 2013 to 2014, she was an intern at East Tennessee State University.

With expertise in neurofibromatosis and glioblastoma, Dr. Brown sees patients with systemic cancers and brain and spinal cord metastases. She keeps up to date on her field and the latest treatments by attending meetings and reading publications. Dr. Brown is a member of the Society for Neuro-Oncology, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neurological Association and the American Association of Clinical Oncology.

In preparation for her career, Dr. Brown completed coursework in biology at Barnard College before graduating from the University of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in 2000. In 2007, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in neuroscience from The University of Texas at Austin, and in 2013, she obtained an additional Doctor of Philosophy in neuroscience from The University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine. Dr. Brown concluded her higher education at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, graduating in 2013 with a Doctor of Medicine.

Alongside her formal degrees, Dr. Brown is eminently qualified and credentialed in her field. She is certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a certified prescriber of medical marijuana through the New York State Office of Cannabis Management. Additionally, the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties certified her in neuro-oncology in 2019. Dr. Brown attributes her success to her dedication and work ethic, as well as the support of her family. In the future, she hopes to expand and develop her neurofibromatosis clinic at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
