Dr. Kremchek began his career as an orthopaedic surgery resident at Tufts University Affiliated Hospitals from 1988 to 1992, the chief resident in orthopaedic surgery and total joint replacement at New England Baptist Hospital from 1988 to 1992 and a fellow in orthopaedic sports medicine with the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine from 1992 to 1993.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Kremchek pursued an education at Wittenberg University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology in 1981. He concluded his studies at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1986, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Kremchek refined his skills within his discipline at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, through a surgical internship and residency between 1986 and 1988.
Beyond his primary responsibilities, Dr. Kremchek has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate professional circles. The founder and director of the Beacon Orthopaedics Sports Medicine Fellowship Program since 2008, he has also provided pro bono medical care for underprivileged young athletes and older adults in his community. Furthermore, he helped to establish the Edward J. Kremchek, MD Scholarship Fund in 2002. Notably, Dr. Kremchek has donated much to athletic equipment, clothing and facilities to Archbishop Moeller High School, Wittenberg University and organizations throughout his community.
Attributing his success to his love for his community in Cincinnati and his passion for his job, Dr. Kremchek has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. Inducted into both the Archbishop Moeller High School Hall of Fame and the Wittenberg University Hall of Fame, he was recognized among the Top 10 Super Surgeons of Major League Baseball in 2016, the Top Five Super Surgeons by Baseball Prospectus in 2010 and the Top 10 MLB Surgeons by Bleacher Report. He was further presented with the Tom Roebel Good Fellowship Award from Roger Bacon High School in 2009, the Class of 1914 Award for Distinguished Alumni from Wittenberg University in 2004 and a Research Award from Good Samaritan Hospital and TriHealth in 1988. Featured in various media outlets, including USA Today, ESPN Magazine and Sports Illustrated, he has been additionally honored by the Ohio State Medical Association and the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches over the years. Looking toward the future, Dr. Kremchek opes to continue training and educating fellows in orthopaedics as to best prepare the next generation of professionals in his field.
