Theodore C. Marentis, a nuclear radiologist at Dignity Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of nuclear radiology.
Leveraging over a decade of expertise in his chosen field, Dr. Marentis has distinguished himself as a nuclear radiologist at Dignity Health, which merged with Catholic Health Initiatives to become CommonSpirit Health in 2019. Joining the nonprofit health network in 2014, he is primarily responsible for conducting cardiovascular and oncological imaging of patients, as well as studying inpatient and outpatient results. Likewise, Dr. Marentis routinely works alongside his colleagues to assist them in interpreting radioisotope imagery.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Dr. Marentis has earned distinction as the founder of Kalyspo, a biotechnology company. Since its establishment in 2012, Kalyspo has worked to combine microelectromechanical systems and computer-aided detection technology developed at the radiology and mechanical engineering departments of the University of Michigan to detect retained foreign objects in patients. Notably, the company won a small startup boot camp competition for its innovative use of x-ray technology.
Before embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Marentis studied at Athens College in Greece, from which he earned an international baccalaureate degree in 1999. Following this accomplishment, he went on to attend Stanford University, where he received both a Bachelor of Science in bioengineering and a Master of Science in electrical engineering in 2003. Dr. Marentis went on to attain a Doctor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School in 2008. After concluding his academic efforts, he undertook an internship in internal medicine at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University New York Downtown Hospital from 2008 until 2009, whereupon he completed a residency in radiology and a fellowship in nuclear medicine at the University of Michigan Health System. Well-qualified in his field, Dr. Marentis has been certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine and in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology.
Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Marentis is proud to have secured three patents for his inventions. To commemorate his service in the field, he was granted both a Howard Hughes fellowship in 2005 and a Paul and Daisy Soros fellowship for New Americans in 2006. Looking toward the future, Dr. Marentis aspires to expand further upon the concept of Kalyspo and attain a role in medical administration.
