Dr. Nandita (Kaul) Nanda, MD, Adult and Child Psychiatrist at Hudson Valley Regional Health Clinic, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychiatric medicine.

Dr. Nanda attended Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College in Kanpur, India, graduating with a degree in general medicine in 1971. After immigrating to the United States in 1972, she obtained a medical degree in general psychiatry and child psychiatry from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She subsequently performed a residency and a fellowship in psychiatry at Clinton Valley Center in Pontiac, Michigan. She has a medical license to practice in the states of Michigan, New York and Connecticut.

Since 1989, Dr. Nanda has excelled as a psychiatrist at Hudson Valley Regional Community Health Centers, after previously being on staff as a psychiatrist at Green Chimney, both in New York. She has served the medical community as a past member of the American Medical Association, a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and a lifetime member of the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Nanda attributes her success to the support that she has received from her family over the years. She went into medicine in order to provide services to people and to work with children. Her dream is to one day open her own clinic to provide healthcare to the community. During her career, she spent thirty years at Green Chimney in Brewster, New York, a working farm and boarding school for children with psychiatric illnesses where she began working with autistic children and their parents, helping them develop ways to enjoy more productive days and manage symptoms.

From an early age, Dr. Nanda was inspired to go into medicine. Her maternal grandmother attended medical school in 1915 and her father was a working doctor at the University of Delhi in New Delhi, India. She continues to maintain ties to her cultural heritage while remaining active in her local community as the co-founders of a community Indian cultural and prayer group, which has been in operation for over a decade.
