Dr. Gandu’s career reflects a commitment to advancing patient care and holistic health through both clinical practice and entrepreneurial innovation. Since 2023, he has owned JGN Clinical LLC, where he serves as a board member and managing member. His clinical practice includes providing inpatient care as an internal medicine hospitalist and managing critically ill patients in intensive care unit settings. Dr. Gandu is currently transitioning from hospital-based medicine to establish his own private practice in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Gandu’s hospitalist experience spans several major health systems. Since 2023, he has worked as a hospitalist at UNC Health Nash. Dr. Gandu previously held medical credentials with Cape Fear Valley Health System from 2025 to 2026 and with Novant Health and UNC Health Wayne between 2024 and 2025. Earlier roles included attending hospitalist at UNC Health Wayne Hospital in 2024, graduate medical education resident council secretary at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport from 2022 to 2023, and medical doctor positions at LSU Health Shreveport from 2020 to 2024 and Ramaiah Memorial Hospital between 2016 and 2022.
In addition to managing his practice, Dr. Gandu has ventured into entrepreneurial pursuits. In 2024, he became the founder and chief executive officer of JGN Biotech, a physician-owned nutraceutical and supplement company. Under Dr. Gandu’s leadership, the company has launched its first functional mushroom product line while maintaining its own intellectual property and processes. His entry into this sector was motivated by a desire to bring greater credibility and oversight to natural products, an area he believes holds underappreciated value for patient health.
In his most recent role as the co-founder and managing director of ReJIVAnate LLC beginning in 2026, Dr. Gandu has led the development of a software-as-a-solution wellness application that integrates biomarker panels, questionnaire data and artificial intelligence-generated input. The platform is designed to deliver personalized recommendations across nutrition, exercise, supplementation, yoga and breathwork. The application’s rollout is planned for Latin America first, followed by expansion into East Africa and India before entering the U.S. market. This venture is an extension of Dr. Gandu’s broader mission to complement primary care with accessible preventive strategies.
Dr. Gandu’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Ramaiah Medical College, earned in 2020. He subsequently completed a residency in internal medicine at LSU Health New Orleans in Louisiana in 2023. During his residency at LSU Health Sciences Center, Dr. Gandu was selected among 120 residents to serve as ambulatory clinic chief, a role that allowed him to oversee outpatient clinical medicine for the program. Dr. Gandu received board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2023. He is licensed through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact for North Carolina and Texas as well as the Texas Medical Board, with additional certifications in advanced cardiovascular life support and basic life support.
Active in his professional community, Dr. Gandu holds memberships with the American Medical Association and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has also contributed to institutional committees, such as the GME institutional self-study committee at LSUHSC Shreveport, and served as the director for both the social media committee and recruitment committee at LSUHSC Shreveport.
Civic engagement is central to Dr. Gandu’s philosophy of service. He volunteers through JGN Biotech to organize community health screenings for diabetes and hypertension at churches and local events throughout North Carolina, with particular attention to rural populations lacking access to preventive care. Dr. Gandu’s longstanding commitments include participation with Meals on Wheels America, The Salvation Army, hurricane relief efforts for displaced nursing home residents following Hurricane Ida and various ongoing public health initiatives.
Dr. Gandu’s research contributions include co-authoring several peer-reviewed articles in publications such as the Journal of Investigative Medicine and presenting before the Society of Critical Care Medicine Critical Care Congress. Additionally, he has contributed several poster presentations.
Among Dr. Gandu’s most notable accomplishments was receiving the SCOPY Award from the American College of Gastroenterology in 2023 for leading a barbershop colorectal cancer screening initiative targeting populations with historically lower screening rates. He helped train barbershop staff to communicate the importance of colon cancer screening, an effort that made measurable strides in community awareness. Dr. Gandu also won a Physician DYAD Award for leading heart failure improvement initiatives at UNC Nash.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gandu has distinguished himself through intuitive listening skills, a holistic approach to patient care and a focus on education that empowers patients to make meaningful lifestyle changes beyond the hospital setting. He integrates preventive strategies into his daily practice and continually seeks innovative ways to scale his impact from individual patients to broader communities.
Drawing inspiration from mentors who have played a formative role throughout his career, Dr. Gandu also notes his wife, Apurva Jagadish, a pediatric hematologist-oncologist, for her ongoing support. From childhood, he was drawn naturally toward medicine due to its emphasis on creative problem-solving rather than rote memorization or computational skills. Dr. Gandu’s early passion for healthcare evolved during medical school when he recognized a calling not only for direct patient care but also for making an impact on larger populations through entrepreneurship.
Looking ahead, Dr. Gandu plans to open his own private practice while continuing efforts through ReJIVAnate LLC and JGN Biotech aimed at transforming preventive healthcare delivery regionally and globally.
