Hadi Berry, DO, Medical Director and President at American Internal Medicine, PC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements and leadership in Internal Medicine.
Throughout a career spanning two decades, Dr. Berry has demonstrated unwavering commitment to advancing patient care and community health. Since 2016, he has served as the medical director and president at American Internal Medicine, PC, in his hometown of Dearborn, Michigan. In this capacity, Dr. Berry is renowned for his holistic approach to medicine and his dedication to the underserved communities in which he serves. He also treats many patients who travel from northern regions of the state, often four or five hours away, seeking his expertise in internal medicine. Dr. Berry is known for prioritizing quality over quantity by limiting his daily patient load to 15 to 20 individuals, allowing him to devote significant time to each case.
Dr. Berry’s clinical practice encompasses preventive care, early screening initiatives, anti-aging therapies and substance abuse treatment. As an authorized site for opioid addiction treatment, this facility plays an active role in addressing the opioid epidemic through both medication-assisted therapy and counseling support. He frequently provides counseling himself due to insufficient resources available for patients struggling with addiction and mental health issues. Dr. Berry’s advocacy extends to alternative medicine as well. He incorporates herbal therapies into his practice and utilizes innovative treatments, such as platelet-rich plasma for hair restoration and a unique garlic preparation from Yemen that promotes hair regrowth.
Before establishing his practice over a decade ago, Dr. Berry held several key leadership positions at Detroit Medical Center under TH Medical. From 2014 to 2017, he served as the chief medical officer, overseeing clinical operations and contributing to institutional strategy. Earlier, Dr. Berry was the executive medical director from 2013 to 2017 after being recruited from Detroit Medical Center as the vice president of medical affairs between 2010 and 2013. These roles allowed him to influence policy development and foster collaboration across multiple departments.
Dr. Berry’s educational journey began at the University of Michigan, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in 2001. He continued his studies at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, receiving a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006 before completing an internal medicine residency program on campus. This comprehensive academic foundation equipped Dr. Berry with a broad understanding of human biology and the interconnectedness of bodily systems, principles that continue to inform his holistic approach today.
Dr. Berry’s expertise is further underscored by board certification in internal medicine. This credential reflects not only mastery of the discipline but also a commitment to lifelong learning and adherence to the highest standards of patient care. Adding to his credentials, Dr. Berry’s professional affiliations include membership in DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, DMC Harper University Hospital and DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital. These associations have provided Dr. Berry with opportunities to collaborate with leading experts in the field and remain at the forefront of advancements in internal medicine.
Initially drawn to general surgery during his training years, Dr. Berry ultimately found internal medicine more intellectually stimulating due to its complexity and breadth across subspecialties such as nephrology, cardiology, obesity management, hypertension, diabetes care and neurology. His decision was guided by a desire to treat the whole person rather than focus on isolated organ systems, a philosophy that distinguishes his practice.
Notably, Dr. Berry once traveled to Cuba, where he observed local medical practices firsthand. During this visit, he arranged emergency transport for Michael Jackson’s first cousin, a private patient, back to the United States following a medical episode abroad.
Dr. Berry’s dedication has been recognized through several honors, including Top Detroit Doctors in 2021 and Most Honorable Physician in 2024. He also received a Certificate of Merit from Meeting of the Mind. Among Dr. Berry’s most notable achievements, however, has been his ongoing work within the addiction community, where he strives to rebuild mental healthcare support systems for those most vulnerable. He recognizes that many patients face financial hardships compounded by psychological distress, affecting their overall well-being and family dynamics. Dr. Berry aims to help shape a future healthcare model that integrates mental health with traditional medicine so that patients receive comprehensive support tailored to their needs.
Looking ahead, Dr. Berry is preparing for transformative changes within healthcare delivery systems by advocating for greater integration between mental health services and traditional medical care. He remains committed to making a meaningful difference for patients facing complex challenges while upholding the highest standards of compassion and professionalism throughout his career.
