Dr. Gomes has established himself as a leading physician in Northern California, recognized for his expertise in women’s health, health care innovation, mental health services, weight management and end-of-life care. As the founder and chief medical officer of Gomes Medical Corporation since 2025, he has prioritized meaningful patient relationships and personalized care. In this capacity, Dr. Gomes has redefined the doctor-patient dynamic by adopting a direct primary care model that eliminates intermediaries and allows for more attentive, individualized treatment. His leadership at Gomes Medical Corporation reflects his commitment to treating patients with the same dedication and compassion he would extend to his own family.
Since 2021, Dr. Gomes has also served as a ringside physician with the Association of Ringside Physicians Inc., where he oversees the safety and well-being of athletes during sanctioned boxing and mixed martial arts events. His responsibilities include ensuring fighters are protected before, during and after competitions, a role that underscores his versatility and commitment to health care.
Among his previous positions, Dr. Gomes contributed his expertise as an urgent care physician with The Permanente Medical Group, Inc., in 2024, providing acute care services to a diverse patient population. That same year, he was appointed as an adjunct faculty at the Kaiser Permanente Family Medicine Residency Program in Sacramento, California, where he mentored clinicians-in-training and shared his knowledge in family medicine.
Dr. Gomes further advanced his clinical experience as a physician and adjunct faculty member at The Permanente Medical Group, Inc., from 2023 to 2025. Between 2022 and 2023, he gained expertise as a supervising physician at Cerebral, where he oversaw mental health services remotely. Earlier, from 2021 to 2023, Dr. Gomes practiced outpatient family medicine at Sutter Health. During this period, he identified significant gaps in women’s health services, particularly in gynecological care, which inspired him to become a prominent advocate for comprehensive women’s health. Dr. Gomes’s tenure at both Sutter Health and Kaiser Permanente highlighted the challenges of managing large patient panels and reinforced his resolve to focus on quality over quantity in patient care.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Gomes gained valuable clinical experience as a medical doctor at American University of the Caribbean in Sint Maarten from 2013 to 2017. Throughout his career, Dr. Gomes has demonstrated exceptional expertise across multiple domains of medicine. His dedication was recognized early on with the Resident of the Year Award. Among Dr. Gomes’s most notable achievements, however, was his commitment to end-of-life care, a practice he championed during nearly three years at Kaiser Permanente. With specialized training in this area, he supported terminally ill patients expected to have six months or less to live, guiding them through informed choices about their final days. The gratitude expressed by families, through cards or invitations to memorial services, remains one of Dr. Gomes’s most valued honors.
Dr. Gomes attributes his success to a profound sense of purpose, viewing medicine not just as a profession but as a calling, and is known for advocating for patients with unwavering dedication. His philosophy centers on building genuine relationships with patients that extend beyond clinical encounters.
Eager for the future, Dr. Gomes plans to intensify efforts on women’s health advocacy with particular focus on breast cancer awareness, a cause driven by persistent statistics affecting women nationwide, and weight management initiatives aimed at helping individuals achieve healthier lifestyles.
