Troy Wright Pinta, PharmD, emergency medicine clinical pharmacist at Lee Memorial Health System, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in emergency medicine.

Dr. Pinta has established a remarkable career in emergency medicine pharmacy, marked by more than 20 years of professional service and academic leadership. For the past nine years, he has excelled as an emergency medicine pharmacist and clinical professor of emergency room medicine at Lee Memorial Health System. In this capacity, Dr. Pinta teaches pharmacy residents and students while collaborating directly with providers in the high-pressure environment of emergency care. He is lauded for his meticulous attention to detail and innovative problem-solving—qualities that have proven life-saving in critical situations, such as identifying a heart attack in a patient whose symptoms were initially misattributed.

Since 2016, Dr. Pinta has also been active as a clinical instructor at the University of Florida, where he contributes to the education of future pharmacists. Moreover, he has found success as a clinical instructor at Lecom Cape Coral Hospital since 2015, further expanding his influence on pharmacy education within hospital settings. In 2014, he assumed the position of chief executive officer at Sports & Wellness Inc., demonstrating his versatility and leadership beyond traditional healthcare environments.

From 2007 to 2012, Dr. Pinta worked as an internal medicine clinical pharmacist at Lee Memorial Health System, where he provided comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients with complex medical needs. From 2004 to 2006, he served as a clinical pharmacist at Family Health Management, focusing on medication management and patient counseling.

Dr. Pinta’s commitment to education is evident through his tenure as an adjunct professor at Florida Southwestern State College from 2000 to 2004 and as a clinical instructor at Palm Beach Atlantic University from 2002 to 2006. At Florida Southwestern State College—formerly the local community college where he began his own academic journey—he taught pharmacology to dental hygiene students and delivered lectures to nursing students, motivated by a genuine passion for teaching rather than financial compensation.

Between 2002 and 2005, Dr. Pinta was recruited as a clinical pharmacist at US Infusion, providing specialized pharmaceutical services in infusion therapy. He has been a clinical instructor at Nova Southeastern University since 2001, contributing to the development of pharmacy curricula and mentoring students for over two decades. From 2001 to 2007, Dr. Pinta was appointed as a director of pharmacy at Optioncare of Southwest Florida, overseeing pharmacy operations and ensuring high standards of patient care. His experience also includes his work as a staff speaker for Pfizer from 2000 to 2004, where he provided educational presentations on pharmaceutical products.

Throughout his career, Dr. Pinta has been recognized for his achievements and dedication to the profession. He received the Outstanding Young Pharmacist Award from the Florida Pharmacy Association in 2001. In 1999, he was named to the National Dean’s List for Outstanding Professional School Academic Achievement. Dr. Pinta maintains his affiliation with several professional organizations, including Rho Chi, the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, the Board of Organizational Affairs and the Florida Pharmacy Association.

To support his professional ambitions, Dr. Pinta initially pursued an education at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he completed coursework in environmental biology in 1996. He continued his studies at Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy in Fort Lauderdale-Davie, where he graduated in the top five percent of his class with a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2000. He ultimately concluded his academic efforts with coursework in pharmacogenomics  at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2016. Dr. Pinta also obtained a pharmacotherapy specialty certification with an emphasis on pharmacogenomics from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 2015.

The values instilled during Dr. Pinta’s upbringing on Pine Island—a modest fishing community—have profoundly shaped his approach to healthcare. Observing his family provide essential support as one of the few accessible sources of healthcare knowledge inspired his lifelong commitment to service and responsibility within his profession.

Beyond his primary responsibilities, Dr. Pinta has contributed significantly through civic engagement and public education initiatives. Since 2000, he has served on the board of the Florida Society of Health System Pharmacists Inc., advocating for advancements within hospital pharmacy practice statewide. From 1994 to 2006, he supported Ducks Unlimited through finance and marketing efforts aimed at conservation initiatives. He has also made notable contributions as a radio talk show host for ESPN since 2009 and was appointed as a staff speaker for Cubist Pharmaceuticals from 2005 to 2007.

Dr. Pinta’s dedication extends into volunteerism and community outreach. From 2000 to 2004, alongside his teaching roles, he volunteered with the Arthritis Foundation by offering educational “brown bag” sessions that helped patients understand medication risks and benefits. He also provided his support for individuals managing chronic conditions through involvement with a psoriasis support group.

Dr. Pinta credits much of his success to these formative experiences as well as guidance from key mentors: his mother Jade Pinta as well as his former supervisor Ray Bailey. Looking toward the future, he remains committed to advancing the role of pharmacists within healthcare systems by enhancing their visibility and value—particularly in clinical settings—and by educating future professionals who will carry forward this mission with purpose and pride.
