With over two and a half decades of experience, Dr. Costa has built a successful career in leadership development. She also holds certifications in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from the American Red Cross and is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified by the American Society of Quality. She takes great pride in earning her doctorate and finds professional fulfillment in developing programs for fall and psychotropic medication reduction and forming collaborative partnerships.

Dr. Costa attributes her success to her unwavering commitment as a patient advocate, always striving to do more for the patient and continuously seeking improvement. She believes in approaching her work with humility and does not consider herself above others. As a strong advocate for change, she encourages her team to “do things effectively and efficiently,” consistently questioning why things are done a certain way and how they can be improved. In the coming years, she aims to work with the Advisory Board at Arizona College of Nursing as the sole representative of the long-term care industry, with the goal of elevating long-term care nursing as a desirable profession for registered nurses. Before retiring, she hopes to collaborate on publishing work related to long-term care, such as a research project. She plans to continue her work as long as she maintains her, with a focus on helping registered nurses recognize the value of caring for patients in long-term care.
