Prior to her current position, she worked as a physician at Frisbie Memorial Hospital from 2015 to 2019, was a partner at Lillea Medical Aesthetics from 2011 to 2016, and was a software engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation, a major American company in the computer industry from the 1960s to the 1990s, from 1985 to 1990.
Laying a foundation for her future success, Dr. Gottfredsen pursued an education at Northeastern University, earning a Bachelor of Science in computer science in 1985, followed by a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993. She completed her studies with an internship and residency at the Medical Center of Central Massachusetts. She has also maintained memberships with organizations in relation to her area of expertise, including the American College of Osteopathic Internists, a medical association in the United States representing osteopathic physicians who specialize in internal medicine, the American College of Physicians, a Philadelphia-based national organization of internal medicine physicians, who specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of adults, and the New Hampshire Medical Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for patients, physicians, the medical profession and health-related rights, responsibilities, and issues for the betterment of public health in the New Hampshire.
In light of her impressive undertakings, Dr. Gottfredsen was named a fellow by the American College of Osteopathic Internists. She attributes her success to her ability to remain fully present with her patients and actively listen. She understands that attentive listening is the cornerstone of effective diagnosis and treatment. She makes it a priority to create a safe and welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable sharing their concerns. She believes that by focusing on each patient’s individual needs and experiences, she can develop personalized treatment plans that address the root causes of their health issues and promote lasting healing. One aspect of her job that brings her great joy is the strong sense of camaraderie and personal connections she builds with her colleagues and patients. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys kayaking, playing golf, and taking care of her dogs.
