Title: Physician and Partner
Company: Harbin Clinic
Location: Cedar Bluff, Alabama, United States

Katharine Marie Ammons, MD, a physician and partner at the Harbin Clinic, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of health care.

Singularly committed to fulfilling her devotion to the plight of those in need, Dr. Ammons has found success as a physician and partner at the Harbin Clinic, a privately owned multi-specialty clinic based in Rome, Georgia. Specializing in internal medicine, Dr. Ammons leverages more than three decades of experience in her chosen field. Among her past roles, she worked as a physician in private practice in Summerville, Georgia, and at various medical facilities, including the Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, the Redmond Regional Medical Center, and an HIV clinic, where she served as the director of hospice care for six years.

Long driven to pursue the path of a healer, Dr. Ammons studied at what is now Columbus State University, where she earned an associate degree in nursing in 1979. During this time, she garnered practical expertise in various home health settings, but ultimately felt that her calling was beyond the scope of nursing and yearned to accomplish more. She subsequently attended Shorter University, from which she attained a Bachelor of Science in biology in 1987. Following this achievement, she received an MD at the Mercer University School of Medicine, where she undertook a residency in internal medicine until 1995. Notably, during the course of her studies at Mercer University, Dr. Ammons was hailed as the Medical Student of the Year.

Dr. Ammons credits her success to her deep passion for the profession and her empathetic approach towards others. Despite having a patient panel of 4,500, which is higher than the average of 2,500, she believes that her ability to listen attentively and genuinely care for her patients has played a crucial role in her current prosperity. Looking toward the future, she aspires to continue educating patients on the best ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle, manage their stress, escape from abusive situations, and enjoy life and nature. Above all, Dr. Ammons believes in encouraging kindness, humility, forgiveness, and letting go of anger to live in the present and help others.

Outside of her professional efforts, Dr. Ammons is an avid civic advocate, and frequently donates food to the poor and volunteers to feed children and the homeless. She has also, at one time, served as a volunteer deputy coroner in Cherokee County, Alabama. Among her most cherished avocations, Dr. Ammons enjoys cooking, playing the guitar, rescuing animals, listening to music and reading.
