Victor Lawrence Roberts, MD, Endocrinologist at the Endocrine Associates of Florida, PA, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Medicine.
Dr. Roberts wanted to make a difference, and there were patients who were in need of help, which inspired him to become a clinical professor and later president and chief executive officer of the Endocrine Associates of Florida in 1988. He serves in a number of concurrent teaching roles, notably as a professor of internal medicine with the College of Medicine at the University of Central Florida since 2008. Dr. Roberts also lends his expertise in practice and academia to the Florida State University, the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, and the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. He attributes his success to a great marriage with Lucy Duque-Roberts, with whom he had Mara Isabelle, Allan Joshua, and Daniel Alexander.
Born in Manhattan in the city of New York, New York, Dr. Roberts earned a BS in biology from Hobart College, just upstate in Geneva, New York, and traveled to the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico, to earn an MD in 1974. He served a residency in internal medicine with the Upstate Medical University of Syracuse, New York, and specialized in endocrinology and diabetes metabolism in a fellowship with the University of Miami. Dr. Roberts holds numerous certifications, and during the ‘80s he worked as a consulting endocrinologist in Texas and Florida. After becoming president of Endocrine Associates in 1988, he earned a MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in 1995, and began teaching in 2001 with the University of Florida.
Dr. Roberts is the recipient of a Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award, as well as the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in the pages of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Dr. Roberts has been a member of the Central Florida Medical Reserve Corps with the Florida Department of Health since 2008, and in 2017 he assumed the role of editor-in-chief of the Journal of Diabetes Research and Therapy and editor of First Messenger, a publication of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He has written in English and Spanish, and is an affiliate member of the American College of Cardiology as well as a member of the American Diabetes Association, among numerous medical societies. Dr. Roberts was recognized with numerous physicians’ awards from Castle Connolly and other Best Doctors listings, as well as teaching awards from his respective universities and a governor’s appointment to the Diabetes Advisory Council from 2000 to 2004. In his free time, he enjoys travel, reading, history, and golf.
