Before earning his current title at the global health care company, Dr. Bazan was the associate director of global medical affairs for Mylan, now Viatris Inc., from 2018 to 2020, involved as a medical science liaison. His earlier roles included clinical research associate positions at AstraZeneca and Precision for Medicine between 2016 and 2018, following his position as a country manager at Bayer and Mount Sinai Health System from 2015 to 2016. Dr. Bazan’s career began in 2000 with independent consulting in clinical trials throughout Latin America, which he maintained for over 10 years.
Dr. Bazan’s academic journey culminated in a Doctor of Medicine, with high honors, from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in 1997. His education laid the groundwork for his success in medical research and innovation. Dr. Bazan furthered his expertise through numerous credentials, including an emergency medical technician certification from Union County College and various courses from Harvard Medical School, such as patient safety continuing medical education, and The Johns Hopkins University, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor University. These credentials have equipped him with essential skills in clinical research and patient safety.
In addition to his primary professional endeavors, Dr. Bazan is an active member of several industry organizations, such as the American Medical Association, the Medical Science Liaison Society, the Society of Clinical Research Associates and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. While pursuing his medical degree, he became active in Club Medico and T.E.C.O.S., two elite medical societies. Dr. Bazan’s affiliations reflect his commitment to professional development and have enabled him to network with like-minded individuals.
Beyond his professional life, Dr. Bazan is deeply involved in civic activities. He has volunteered as a medical first responder at ground zero. He has also served as an emergency room medic with Red Cross Blood Services.
Dr. Bazan’s creative pursuits have included audiobook narration for Audible and the National Library of Congress, and several children’s books for blind individuals, showcasing his dedication to accessibility and education. He also authored “Emerging Technique of Aptos Threads” through Blackwell Publishing.
