Dr. Brieser is recognized for his career in health care leadership and hospital administration, which has included over 15 years of dedicated service, marked by progressive responsibility and expertise in rural critical access hospitals. Affiliated with Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo, Illinois, where he grew up, he has played an integral role in the facility’s success, beginning in 2012 as a physical therapist who provides direct patient care and contributes his clinical expertise to rehabilitation services.

In addition to his hands-on expertise working with patients, Dr. Brieser has continuously advanced in administrative roles, beginning as a long-term care manager at Hammond-Henry Hospital from 2019 to 2022 and culminating in his current role as the chief executive officer. Assuming this leading position in 2025, Dr. Brieser oversees strategy and fiscal responsibility for the hospital and its three clinic locations. He also manages the chief operating officer and administrative team, leads strategic planning and budgeting efforts and directs recruitment initiatives to bring new service lines to the organization.

As the hospital’s chief executive officer, Dr. Brieser has initiated and managed the implementation of new systems, including electronic medical records, general ledger and payroll. He also conducts department-led meetings and mission debriefings while performing clinical duties as needed, such as serving as a certified nursing assistant in long-term care. Dr. Brieser’s leadership has focused on stabilizing hospital operations to ensure the hospital’s viability and the quality of care for the community.

Before becoming the chief executive officer, Dr. Brieser served as the vice president of operations at Hammond-Henry Hospital from 2023 to 2025. In this role, he oversaw operations across multiple departments, supporting the hospital’s mission through effective management and collaborative leadership. Between 2022 and 2023, Dr. Brieser served as the director of outpatient services, overseeing outpatient programs and services and ensuring high standards of patient care while optimizing departmental performance. Earlier, Mr. Brieser excelled as the long-term care manager at Hammond-Henry Hospital from 2019 to 2022.

In addition to his roles at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Mr. Brieser has been the co-owner of Maple City 3 LLC since 2016. His responsibilities include managing the successful storage unit business, which comprises over 80 units and continues to expand.

Dr. Brieser earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, in 2009. During this time, he also completed biology coursework that sparked his interest in health care professions. In 2012, he received a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, which provided him with clinical expertise that was foundational to his early career as a physical therapist. Furthermore, he earned a Master of Business Administration from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, in 2020, which equipped him with advanced knowledge in business management essential to hospital administration roles.

Civically engaged, Dr. Brieser is a member of Kiwanis International and Rotary International, organizations dedicated to community service and leadership development.

In recognition of his contributions to rural health care administration, Dr. Brieser received the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network 440 Award in 2024. This accolade is a testament to his hard work and dedication.

Throughout his career journey, Dr. Brieser has consistently credited his achievements to the mentorship and support he has received from colleagues and community members at every stage. He emphasizes that his success is a result of surrounding himself with individuals who have guided him with integrity and honesty. This collaborative approach has enabled Dr. Brieser to remain open to opportunities and excel in each position he has held.

Looking ahead, Dr. Brieser aims to further stabilize Hammond-Henry Hospital as an institution where providers want to establish their practice, employees are eager to work and community members prefer to seek care. He also plans to increase involvement with policy initiatives through organizations like the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network and the Illinois Hospital Association, so he can help shape impactful policies that ensure communities have access to affordable, valuable, high-quality health care services while addressing broader issues related to health, wellness and social determinants of health.
