In 2025, Dr. Friedman founded BraveFull Psychology, where she serves as the company’s founder. In this capacity, she provides therapy as a clinical psychologist for individuals struggling with disordered eating and poor body image, supports teenagers exhibiting high-risk behaviors, serves as a crisis therapist and runs an intensive outpatient program for teens. Dr. Friedman’s practice is distinguished by its focus on treating a variety of mental health issues. The establishment of her private practice marks a significant milestone in her professional journey, reflecting her dedication to delivering specialized care and her recognition as an authority in the field.

Dr. Friedman is also an adjunct professor at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California, a role she has held since 2021. Through this position, she contributes to the academic development of future clinicians by sharing her knowledge and experience in clinical psychology.

From 2015 to 2025, Dr. Friedman served as a licensed clinical psychologist at Kaiser Permanente in Union City, California. During her tenure, she progressed from a novice psychologist to an eating disorder specialist for a large service area. She was responsible for teaching other professionals and leading regional postdoctoral training on eating disorders, underscoring her status as an expert and educator within the organization.

In 2015, Dr. Friedman worked as a behavioral health clinician with Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services and Tri-City Children and Youth Services in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Her earlier experience included serving as a mindfulness group facilitator for eating disorder recovery at Mental Fitness Inc. in 2014.

Dr. Friedman earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Brandeis University in 2005 and a Doctor of Psychology in clinical psychology from Alliant International University-San Francisco Bay in 2013. She also completed an internship at Macquarie University in Australia and at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health in the Bronx, New York, followed by a postdoctoral psychology fellowship at the Karen Horney Clinic. Dr. Friedman is recognized as a certified eating disorder specialist, further validating her expertise in this area, and holds licensure as a clinical psychologist by the New York, California and Arizona Boards of Psychology.

Initially pursuing pre-medical studies with aspirations to follow her father into medicine, Dr. Friedman discovered her passion for understanding human development through college psychology courses. This realization led her to major in psychology.

Adding to her expertise, Dr. Friedman’s professional affiliations include serving as membership chair for the Phoenix chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. Civically engaged, she is involved with Valley of the Sun J, demonstrating her dedication to community service beyond her clinical responsibilities.

Dr. Friedman’s scholarly contributions include authoring ‘Disordered Eating in Sexually Abused Adolescent Girls: A Proposed Comprehensive Treatment Program,’ published by the California School of Professional Psychology in 2013. She attributes her success to ongoing personal and professional development, continuous learning and adaptation of treatment models to best serve clients, and the unwavering support of family, friends and her husband.

Looking ahead, Dr. Friedman intends to expand BraveFull Psychology’s community outreach efforts by connecting more closely with local schools and athletic teams as a resource for early intervention in eating disorders. She also aims to develop mother-daughter body-image programs to support families coping with these challenges.
