In 2024, Dr. Darbha expanded her professional focus by taking on caregiver roles at both Seniors Helping Seniors and Sahara Home Care. She chose this path to foster more personal connections with those in need, believing that the informal environment of caregiving encourages openness and trust. This transition reflects Dr. Darbha’s philosophy that true healing often begins with understanding and emotional support.

From 2011 to 2013, Dr. Darbha served as a hospitalist at IPC Healthcare Inc., where she provided comprehensive inpatient care and contributed to multidisciplinary teams focused on enhancing patient outcomes. Previously, she held the position of hospitalist at Optimus Hospitalists and Pediatric Subspecialists in Oak Brook, Illinois, between 2008 and 2011, where she refined her expertise in internal medicine.

Active internationally, Dr. Darbha’s experience included serving as a surveillance medical officer for the National Polio Surveillance Project under the World Health Organization from 2001 to 2003. In this capacity, she played a vital role in public health initiatives aimed at eradicating polio in India. Earlier in her career, Dr. Darbha excelled as a civil assistant surgeon for the Government of Andhra Pradesh between 1998 and 2000, where she provided essential medical services to underserved populations.

Dr. Darbha’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Mysore Medical College and Research Institute in India in 1998. She later earned a Doctor of Medicine in internal medicine from Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in Chicago in 2008. Dr. Darbha’s educational background has been instrumental in shaping her clinical acumen and leadership abilities. Beyond her formal education, she holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support from the American Heart Association and in Physician Leadership for Hospital Medicine from the American College of Physicians/American Association for Physician Leadership.

Dr. Darbha’s influence extends beyond clinical practice through her involvement in professional organizations. Since 2022, she has served as an adviser to the governor for the Illinois chapter of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Darbha is also recognized as a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Council on Education and Health Workforce for the Illinois State Medical Society since 2024. Moreover, she has served as a poster judge for organizations such as the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, Women in Medicine, and the Illinois State Medical Society.

Maintaining extensive civic engagement, Dr. Darbha has served as a board member for Oak Technology Solutions since 2013. She previously served as the president of Friends of the Westmont Public Library and was active on the board of the Indian American Medical Association Charitable Foundation.

A recognized expert in health care advocacy, health care policy and leadership, Dr. Darbha’s contributions have been recognized through several honors, including the President’s Leadership Award from the Indian American Medical Association in 2019. Looking ahead, she remains committed to advancing humanity through compassionate service and meaningful contributions to society.
