His most significant achievement during this time was the development of an electronic data system for storing historical information, which streamlined operations and improved budget management by reducing expenditures on non-animal bite incidents.

Dr. Keita’s career also included a role as an epidemiologist specializing in disease investigation at the Barren River District Health Department in Bowling Green, Kentucky, between 2021 and 2023. His work there involved comprehensive disease tracking and data management, contributing to more informed public health strategies. Previously, Dr. Keita served as the director of a health center at Synergy Healthcare Services LLC in Miami, Florida, from 2017 to 2020, where he oversaw health care delivery and patient care services.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Keita practiced medicine as a physician at Hospital Vargas De Caracas in Venezuela from 2014 to 2016. His international experience complemented his work as a laboratory technician at the Medical Research Council Unit at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in The Gambia between 2006 and 2008. Additionally, Dr. Keita imparted his knowledge as a chemistry, mathematics and science teacher at the Muslim Senior Secondary School in The Gambia from 2003 to 2008.

Dr. Keita’s academic credentials are extensive and have been pivotal to his professional success. He earned a bachelor’s degree in pre-medicine from the Latin American School of Medicine in 2009, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the National Experimental University of the Central Plains in 2015. Subsequently, Dr. Keita received both a Master of Public Health in 2023 and a Doctor of Health Science in 2024 from the University of Indianapolis. In addition to his formal education, he holds a designation as a certified medical assistant. He also completed the Essentials of Public Health Certificate Program at Cornell University, received a certification in business administration and management from the University of Miami, and earned a Public Health Leadership Essentials certificate from Cornell University.

Actively involved with civic organizations, Dr. Keita is affiliated with Community Resource House in Poughkeepsie, where he served as the board vice president from 2023 to 2025. In recognition of his success, his contributions to public health were acknowledged with the 2022 New State Public Health Fellowship Award.
