Dr. Hogan’s illustrious career in the health care industry is marked by his commitment to innovation and integrity. In 2025, he founded Ripple Healthcare Consulting LLC in Atlanta, Georgia. Before stepping into entrepreneurship, Dr. Hogan served as director of medical affairs at Taysha Gene Therapies, a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in Dallas, Texas, from 2024 to 2025. During this time, he was instrumental in advancing medical strategies and fostering innovation within the company. Between 2022 and 2024, Dr. Hogan was the associate director of medical affairs at Reata Pharmaceuticals Inc. (now Biogen), managing a small team overseeing the medical affairs strategy. Dr. Hogan’s earlier roles included associate director of medical science liaison for migraine at Biohaven Ltd. from 2019 to 2022 and senior medical science liaison at Flexion Therapeutics in 2018.
Dr. Hogan’s academic journey laid a strong foundation for his professional success. He completed a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a focus on cognitive psychology and a minor in chemistry from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, in 2005 and an MD from the University of Kentucky in Lexington in 2012. Subsequently, he completed research fellowships in the emergency department at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles between 2012 and 2015. Dr. Hogan’s education has significantly shaped his expertise in neurology and health care strategy.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Hogan is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. He has served on the Duke Young Alumni Development Council since 2015 and has been a cohort member of the Ripple-LA Pilot Test since 2017. Additionally, he represents Duke Black Alumni. Earlier, Dr. Hogan volunteered with Healthy African American Families II, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health outcomes of the African American, Latino and Korean communities in Los Angeles County, from 2012 to 2015.
As a seasoned researcher, Dr. Hogan has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed scientific journals and has delivered presentations at various medical conferences. Moreover, his holistic approach to connecting Western and Eastern philosophies is encapsulated in a book he authored.
Dr. Hogan’s most notable achievement throughout his career was completing a buyout and obtaining Food and Drug Administration approval. He is also proud of his ability to develop a strong and empathetic team and takes pride in the network he has created. In light of his many accomplishments, Dr. Hogan was recognized with a Young Black Pharma Award, a Rockstar Team Award, a Team Player Award, and an Innovative Thinker Award from Biohaven Ltd., as well as a Leadership Masterclass Award from Reata Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Dr. Hogan attributes his success to his faith, which has guided him throughout his career journey and continues to inspire him. Looking ahead, he aims to create a positive global impact by utilizing his skills, values and experiences while continuing to mentor emerging talent within the industry.
