Dr. Vetter, renowned for her expertise in the medical field, has garnered tremendous success through her work as a gynecologic oncologist. Having begun her career at Baptist Health System, a leading health care group, where she worked in both Kentucky and Indiana between 2020 and 2024, she was fortunate to receive excellent mentorship and guidance, significantly contributing to her success today.
In 2024, Dr. Vetter pivoted when she joined Norton Healthcare in Louisville, Kentucky, as a gynecologic oncologist. The nonprofit hospital and health care system is a leader in serving adult and pediatric patients throughout parts of Indiana and Kentucky. Notably, gynecologic oncologists specialize in cancer of the female reproductive system, including ovarian, uterine, vaginal, cervical and vulvar cancer. As a specialist, Dr. Vetter diagnoses patients and provides comprehensive treatment plans for these types of cancers to better the outcomes of her patients.
In preparation for her medical career, Dr. Vetter initially studied at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in biology in 2009. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she excelled as a collegiate swimmer, varsity letter winner and team captain. She also became affiliated with Omicron Delta Kappa and Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was a William T. Young Scholar.
After being accepted into the medical program at the University of Louisville, Dr. Vetter became active in Alpha Omega Alpha, a national medical honor society, before earning a Doctor of Medicine in 2013. Additional educational pursuits to her credit included a residency in obstetrics and gynecology from The Ohio State University in Columbus, completed in 2017, followed by advanced training via a fellowship in gynecologic oncology on the Ohio campus in 2020. Dr. Vetter was fortunate to serve as the chief administrative resident during her residency.
Secondary to her work, Dr. Vetter remains actively engaged in professional organizations relevant to her field of study. Among these, she is a prominent member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the Kentucky Medical Association.
As a dedicated community member, Dr. Vetter has been affiliated with her local Planned Parenthood. The nonprofit organization is a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation and provides various reproductive and sexual health care products and services to the public.
Recognizing her accomplishments, Dr. Vetter received a Community Teaching Award, an honor bestowed by the residents of the UK Medical School. This honor is a testament to her hard work and dedication to her field. She credits her success to her unwavering persistence, a quality shaped by years of dedicated training.
Dr. Vetter looks forward to a bright future in the medical field over the next few decades. Her immediate goals include concentrating on her clinical practice while exploring opportunities in physician leadership. She also intends to become more fluent in administrative tasks. Among other endeavors, Dr. Vetter is eager to dedicate some of her time to mentoring younger physicians in their professional journeys, where she can positively influence and impact their careers.
