Experienced in treating various types of heart and vascular conditions, he and his team are experts in interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology and vascular medicine.
Apart from managing his practice, Dr. Bowers has served as the national medical director of interventional and structural cardiology at Hospital Corporation of America Healthcare since 2015, where he also served as the medical staff president for Medical City Heart and Spine Hospitals from 2019 to 2024. Additionally, Dr. Bowers has been the regional interventional and noninvasive cardiology director at Medical City Healthcare since 2010, general partner at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano since 2007, and medical director at the Dallas Valve Institute, Medical City Dallas, since 2005.
Besides his primary career objectives, Dr. Bowers has chaired the professional peer review committee for Medical City Dallas since 2010. He previously chaired the peer review committee for Medical City Healthcare between 2010 and 2024. Furthermore, Dr. Bowers is an overseer, providing strategic guidance for approximately 280 hospitals across the U.S.
In preparation for his medical career, Dr. Bowers obtained a Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, in 1993 and a Doctor of Medicine from Saint George’s University in Grenada in 1998. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include a residency in interventional cardiology from Drexel University in 2005 and an executive health care management and delivery program diploma from Harvard Business School in 2017.
Active in his professional community, Dr. Bowers was elected as a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is also active in the Dallas County Medical Society and the American Medical Association.
Throughout his tenure in medicine, Dr. Bowers has served as a principal investigator numerous times, including for the Partner TAVR Clinical Trials in 2012, the Reprise Clinical Trial in 2016, the CLASP Transcatheter Mottal Valve Repair Trial in 2018, and the Abbott Tendyne TMVR Clinical Trial in 2019. His most notable clinical trial involved structural cardiology 20 years ago, recognized as the first in the U.S. for its innovative procedures. As a leading cardiologist, Dr. Bowers continues to incorporate these techniques in his practice today.
In recognition of his success, Dr. Bowers has been a nine-time listee in Best Doctors in Texas since 2015, has been named a Texas Super Doctor in Texas Monthly Magazine, has been named to Top Doctors numerous times in Dallas Magazine, and has been named the Best Doctor in America by the Dallas Vale Institute, Medical City Dallas.
