With over a decade and a half of experience, Dr. Amor has built a successful career in health care and education, specializing in critical care cardiology, echocardiography, internal medicine, and general cardiology. Since 2022, he has excelled as director of the Coronary Care Unit at Staten Island University Hospital and assistant professor at the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine. His responsibilities include balancing clinical practice, administrative duties, and teaching. She spends two weeks in the ICU and the remaining two weeks focused on administrative tasks and educating medical residents at Hofstra Medical School. He believes teaching is crucial for staying sharp in his field, as it pushes him to continuously learn and engage with new developments, and he also participates in numerous national meetings across internal medicine, cardiology, and critical care to remain at the forefront of his field.

Dr. Amor’s extensive experience includes serving as critical care cardiologist at UAB Medicine from 2019 to 2022 and assistant professor at UAB School of Medicine from 2019 to 2022. He also worked as a critical care fellow at The Mount Sinai Hospital from 2018 to 2019 and as a cardiovascular disease fellow at Northwell Health from 2015 to 2018. He was an associate teacher at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine from 2015 to 2018 and chief medical resident at Monmouth Medical Center from 2014 to 2015. Earlier, he served as an internal medicine resident at Monmouth Medical Center from 2012 to 2015, senior lecturer at Topnotch Medical Board Prep from 2010 to 2012, and faculty member at both San Beda University College of Medicine and Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health from 2009 to 2012.

Dr. Amor is also an active volunteer, contributing to Phi Kappa Mu, the UP Alumni Association in America, the UP Medical Alumni Society in America, and medical missions organized by the Philippine Consulate General in New York. Laying an educational foundation, he earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of the Philippines in 2009. Additionally, he has held fellowships with the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is also a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American Heart Association, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Reflecting on his path, at just 39 years old, Dr. Amor has already achieved the notable distinction of serving as the director of the cardiac ICU, a position many do not attain before the age of 40. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was named Teacher of the Year at Northwell Health in 2024 and earned a Scholar designation for the Harvard Macy Program for Educators in Health Professions at Harvard Medical School the same year. Additionally, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the Robert A. Kreisberg Award for Faculty Development in Medical Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He attributes his success to finding the right mentors, maintaining a positive mindset, demonstrating resilience, and embracing teamwork. Looking to the future, he aims to become a leader in critical care cardiology, focusing on researching and developing technologies to reduce the illness and mortality rates associated with cardiogenic shock.
