Additionally, he has been an assistant clinical professor of medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University since 2019. His responsibilities include providing consultations for patients with terminal illnesses, operating private outpatient palliative care programs, delivering treatment to patients in their homes, and providing telehealth services. His experience also includes serving as associate medical director at Encompass Health from 2018 to 2020, founder and chief medical officer at Open Door Rx, Inc. from 2013 to 2017, and chief executive officer and chief medical officer at Inpatient Medicine Services from 2007 to 2015. He has also held the position of medical director at Islands Hospice from 2009 to 2014 and clinical faculty at the Department of Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai in 2005-2006.
Laying a solid educational foundation, Dr. Hooda earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Emory University in 1997 and a Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in 2002. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2005. In 2023, he earned a Master of Business Administration from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, along with a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. He is board-certified in both palliative medicine and internal medicine by the state of Georgia. Reflecting on his path, one of his most significant career accomplishments was launching Open Door Rx Inc., a pharmacy that pioneered same-day free delivery service in Hawaii in 2012. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has been honored with the William H. Mosby Award and the Entrepreneurship Award. He attributes his success to persistence and hard work. Looking to the future, he aspires to attend law school and actively participate in health care policy, with a focus on end-of-life care.
