Michael A. Hyland, DPT, CEEAA, chief executive officer and chief clinical officer at Hyland Physical Therapy and Wellness LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care.

With over a decade of experience, Dr. Hyland has built a successful career in public health, specializing as a therapist for Parkinson’s patients. He currently serves as the chief executive officer and chief clinical officer of Hyland Physical Therapy and Wellness, an organization offering comprehensive physical and occupational therapy services. They specialize in LSVT BIG and LSVT Loud therapies for patients aged 65 and above. In 2021, after 80% of clients expressed a preference for in-home services, the organization transitioned to a fully mobile, home-based model. Additionally, he manages a podcast and YouTube channel dedicated to educating the public about Parkinson’s disease, coordinates patient schedules, supports staff, and oversees business operations to ensure smooth operations.

Additionally, Dr. Hyland has been involved with the American Physical Therapy Association since 2009, the Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association since 2012, and served as an Oklahoma State Advocate for APTA Geriatrics from 2014 to 2019. He has been a member of Mastermind since 2020, volunteers for the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association and is an event speaker for P.R.E.S.S. and the Annual Education and Research Forum. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Spring Hill College in 2008, followed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2012. He also completed the BIG for LIFE certification from LSVT Global Inc. in 2021 and became a Certified Exercise Expert for the Aging Adult through APTA Geriatrics, an Academy of the American Physical Therapy Association, in 2016. Additionally, he received his LSVT BIG certification from LSVT Global Inc. in 2013.

Reflecting on his path, Dr. Hyland’s journey in physical therapy was deeply inspired by witnessing the potential for improvement through targeted therapy fueled his passion for specialized programs that enhance the quality of life for individuals with Parkinson’s. This led him to establish a private practice focused on this area, where he could make a more direct impact. His YouTube channel and podcast have also allowed him to reach a broader audience, sharing valuable information and engaging with people beyond his physical practice. Additionally, he has also been invited to speak at various events, where he shares his expertise and insights on Parkinson’s disease. The highlight of his career came when he decided to venture out as an entrepreneur. Observing a gap in individualized education for Parkinson’s patients from general physicians, he made it his mission to provide tailored educational resources to help bridge that divide.

Dr. Hyland attributes his success to the unwavering support and belief of his wife, whose encouragement has given him the confidence to pursue new opportunities and push his limits. In the coming years, he plans to focus on consulting and training, particularly helping others establish practices similar to his own and supporting those with Parkinson’s. His ultimate goal is for his practice to become the leading provider of Parkinson’s therapy in his area and to create the premier YouTube channel for Parkinson’s education. Additionally, he is passionate about expanding therapy services to underserved areas, and is eager to collaborate with the VA to assist veterans and is exploring the creation of a nonprofit to support individuals without insurance or those facing limitations with network-based coverage. He envisions building a comprehensive facility that provides a range of services for the Parkinson’s community, including therapy, medical care, nutrition, education, and other vital resources.
