In preparation for his medical career, Dr. Amponsah received an undergraduate degree in liberal arts and sciences, liberal studies and medical technology in 1988, followed by a Doctor of Medicine in internal medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Miramar, Florida, in 1993. He is recognized as a board-certified medical affairs specialist, was elected as a fellow of the American College of International Physicians and is an active member of the Accreditation Board of the Medical Affairs Specialty.
Among his most notable accomplishments, Dr. Amponsah was credited with modifying the Silver, Grocott Staining Technique to speed the testing results during the HIV/AIDS epidemic at Bellevue Hospital. He was also part of the team that developed the first human monoclonal antibodies for treating leukemia. Dr. Amponsah draws the most satisfaction from his satisfaction in advancing drug development initiatives, underscoring the significance of enhancing patients’ quality of life. His success has been recognized with a Top Doctor’s Award. He also received a Letter of Commendation for being the first person to activate the U.S. Penitentiary Allenwood and has received several scholarships for his work and presentations on AIDS.
