With over two decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Katabay has established a successful career in health care, currently excelling as a doctor of medicine at BKC Pain Specialists, a position he has held since 2011. His experience also includes serving as a doctor of medicine at Dublin Pain Clinic from 2012 to 2013 and at Pain Care Specialists from 2002 to 2012. He also dedicates his time to organizations such as the American Medical Association, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the Ohio Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Additionally, he has been an associate member of Sigma Xi and served as chairman of the Noor Islamic Cultural Center from 2012 to 2016, where he also volunteered. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has been honored with the Best in Medicine award in 2019, the Most Compassionate Doctor Award in 2009 and in 2011, 2012, and 2013, as well as the UWD Distinguished Medical Student Award.
Laying a solid educational foundation, Dr. Katabay earned a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College in 1992, followed by a medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1997. He completed his internship training at the Department of Medical Education, Hennepin County Medical Center, from 1997 to 1999, and his anesthesia residency at the Department of Anesthesiology, University of Minnesota, from 1997 to 2001. He further specialized with a pain fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, from 2001 to 2002, and became a trained pain management anesthesiologist. He also holds the CMS Stage 1 HER Certification from 2013. Reflecting on his path, he was inspired to enter pain management after his personal experiences with multiple knee surgeries and witnessing the lack of care for pain patients during his college years. He takes great pride in receiving the “Most Compassionate Doctor” award, and the positive feedback from his patients continues to motivate him. In the coming years, he aims to open another clinic in Columbus and hopes to reach more people in larger cities.
