Dr. Steven M. Dranoff, president at D&D Consultants Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychology.

For more than 50 years, Dr. Dranoff has set himself apart as a leader in the field of psychology, with a focus on school-age children. His esteemed professional life began as a project coordinator for Fairleigh Dickinson University’s office of child development in 1973. Dr. Dranoff later became a clinical staff psychologist at the Cedar Grove Residential Treatment Center and an American Psychological Association (APA)-approved clinical psychology extern at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In 1977, he took on the role of director for Clifton Mental Health Services, a position he continued alongside being a senior psychologist at William Paterson University. In 1992, Dr. Dranoff co-founded the Contemporary Center for Advanced Psychoanalytic Studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he contributed as a training analyst and senior supervisor for over 15 years. Concurrently with this, he built his skills as a managing partner at Corporate Matters Ltd. and a field supervisor at the psychological clinic at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

Across five years, Dr. Dranoff shared his expertise as a senior supervisor and training analyst at the Center for Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis of New Jersey. During that same period, he served as the co-chairman of the New Jersey Psychological Association’s anti-bullying committee. Dr. Dranoff has headed up his own private practice as a psychologist and psychoanalyst since 1981. In 1996, he created D&D Consultants Inc., an organization that leverages psychology research to design programs for use in classrooms, corporate environments and more. Dr. Dranoff remains president of D&D Consultants to this day. He also provides guidance as an adviser for AdvisoryCloud and is the co-founder and director of the Center for Empathy Research and Training.

Dr. Dranoff’s performance in his field was born of his academic journey. He earned a PhD in school psychology from Fordham University in 1980. Subsequently, Dr. Dranoff completed a program in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health in 1988. He has furthered his credentials with certification in supervision of the psychoanalytic process from the Contemporary Center for Advanced Psychoanalytic Studies.

Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Dranoff has regularly expressed his knowledge through creative works. He co-authored “The Manager’s Guide to Preventing a Hostile Work Environment: How to Avoid Legal Threats by Protecting Your Workplace from Harassment Based on Sex, Race, Age,” which was published in 2002. Dr. Dranoff is also involved in film, having produced more than 20 movies. He wrote the script for a three-hour program on sexual harassment that has been used by multiple clients.

Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Dr. Dranoff has received many accolades. He was presented with the Achievement Award in Teaching, the Achievement Award in Supervision, and the Community Award for Applied Psychoanalysis in Schools and the Workplace by the Contemporary Center for Advanced Psychoanalytic Studies. Dr. Dranoff was given the Outstanding Career Achievement Award by Fordham University and the Media Award by the New Jersey Psychological Association in 1999. His other notable prizes include the Cindy Gold Award from the International Association of Audio-Visual Communicators, the Book of the Year Award from Willis North America and the Mega-Conference on Technology Award. Dr. Dranoff credits his success to the support of his family, especially his beloved wife of 53 years, his two children and his one grandchild.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Dranoff enjoys playing piano, listening to classical music, exercising, golfing, playing tennis and singing opera. When envisioning the future, he hopes to make the world a better place through his psychology research. Dr. Dranoff plans to continue developing methods to understand how empathy works and how it can be encouraged and enhanced. He intends to create psychology training programs focused on empathy in Los Angeles and Clifton, New Jersey, with a long-term goal of tracking how empathy training affects a wider community and city as a whole—an ambitious project building on the skills he has developed throughout his career.
