She subsequently completed her psychiatric residency at the Cabrini Medical Center of New York City. Following these accomplishments, she obtained her certification in geriatric psychiatry from The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2004 and her active medical license to practice in the state of New York. In light of her impressive undertakings, Dr. Nunez has accrued several accolades throughout her career, including recognition as The Resident of the Year in 1997, an honor for Physician Excellence of the Year by NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center in 2004, and inclusion on the Healthgrades Honor Roll.

In her youth, Dr. Nunez fostered a deep passion for reading, which later fueled her interest in books on psychology, though the limited employment opportunities in the Dominican Republic ultimately inspired her to relocate to the United States. Driven by her desire to help others, she has attributed her success to her stellar work ethic, having overcome many obstacles in order to prove herself as a capable psychiatrist from a different country who spoke a different language. She likewise cites her tenacity, persistence, dedication, and professional passion as the foundation of her excellence in her field. In addition to these qualities, she is incredibly grateful to have received the unwavering support of her loving family, including her two wonderful daughters.
