She is board-certified in emergency medicine and her daily responsibilities include running the emergency department, seeing all emergency room patients, facilitating the transfer of patients to other hospitals, managing staff schedules and shifts, attending meetings regarding quality improvements, handling administrative work, and operating an end-of-life care committee she began at the hospital.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Fuscardo pursued an education at Marshall University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical science in 2007. She concluded her studies at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating with a Doctor of Osteopathy in 2011. She is board-certified in osteopathic emergency medicine from the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine at the American Osteopathic Association and is a licensed medical practitioner.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Fuscardo has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She contributed as a volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and volunteered as a teacher at a local hospital. In addition to her primary vocation, she remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the American Osteopathic Association and MOMance, a mothers’ support group.
In light of her impressive undertakings, Dr. Fuscardo has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was recognized as Intern of the Year by the Ohio Valley Medical Center in 2012. She attributes her success to her father and her caring husband and family. Throughout the tenure of her career, she considers her most notable achievement to be her ability to put patients at ease while obtaining the information necessary to provide them with the best and most effective care. She is also proud of being a member of MOMance.
Dr. Fuscardo has been the assistant director of the department for the past two years, and in the immediate future, she intends to transition to the role of director after her father retires. She plans to help more people and start an urgent care facility in her father’s name. Her long-term goal is to operate her own urgent care and start a chain of them in her area.
