Dr. Horn, a distinguished pathologist with a rich educational background, has left an indelible mark on the field of medicine. After graduating with a Doctor of Medicine from Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College, Cornell University, in 1960, he embarked on a journey of lifelong learning and service. His academic pursuits furthered with pathology, anatomic, and clinical residencies at the University of Miami, Jackson Health System in 1964, and the University of Florida in 1965.

He completed a transitional year internship at the University of Hawaii in 1961. Following that, he took up a residency in public health and general preventive medicine at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Public Health and General Preventive Medicine in 1967. His commitment to excellence is underscored by his board certification in pathology and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology and a Florida State Medical License held from 1973 to 2024.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Horn served as a pathologist and director of laboratory at Don L. Horn, MD, until his retirement in 2015. Prior to this, he dedicated five years to academia as a clinical professor of pathology at Louisiana State University. He also led a small laboratory, where he personally trained and mentored a team of staff members, earning certifications from state and national authorities. Outside of his professional endeavors, he remains committed to civic engagement as a supporter of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and the Founder of the New Orleans Poetry Association.

Reflecting on his career, Dr. Horn finds fulfillment in the impact he has had on medical education and laboratory development. Looking ahead, he aims to further his literary pursuits and eventually publish his autobiography. He attributes his success to the guidance of his parents, uncle, old friends, and early professors, emphasizing the importance of understanding the mechanics and essential aspects of one’s specialty. His legacy in medicine and literature continues to inspire aspiring professionals in his field, serving as a beacon of dedication, perseverance, and lifelong learning.
