Dr. Slotnick has served as the clinical director at Mind-Body-World Optometry since 2023 and has been the exhibits coordinator for the Eastern States Optometric Congress since 2007. Previously, she owned and operated her practice, Samantha Slotnick, OD, FAAO, FCOVD, from 2013 to 2023, and worked as a research scientist at Manhattan Vision Associates from 2006 to 2014. She has also held positions as a behavioral optometrist, adjunct assistant research professor, and editorial contributor in the field of optometry.
Dr. Slotnick’s journey into optometry was deeply personal, driven by her own struggles with vision issues that impacted her academic performance. Her experiences led her to pursue optometry school and eventually establish a practice where she could help others overcome similar challenges. She has been recognized for her contributions with awards such as the Dr. Martin H. Birnbaum Memorial Award for Outstanding Knowledge and Skills in Behavioral Optometry and the Foundation for the Development of Humanity Scholarship. In her civic engagement, she serves on the board of the Eastern States Optometric Congress and actively participates in various professional associations, including the American Optometric Association, New York State Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry, College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and Optometric Extension Program Foundation.
