Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Onyeani has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He contributes to the National Center for Children in Poverty and the Violence Against Children and Women organization. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the American Association of Addiction Treatment Providers, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Chicago Chamber of Commerce, and the American Academy of Primary Care Research. He authored or co-authored 17 textbooks on an array of subjects including patient care technology, a study of the Nigerian health sector, a guide on the processes of buying and selling crude oil, combating AIDS in developing nations, and medical modernization in developing nations.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Dr. Onyeani has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He established the largest dialysis center in the Phoenix area. He was presented with an award for contributions to his local community, another from the Industrial Development Bank of the Health Ministry of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Governor’s Award. He also received a recognition from the State of New York.
