Dr. Subramani Seetharama, System Medical Director at Hartford Healthcare, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
With 42 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Seetharama has excelled as system medical director at Hartford Healthcare. Prior to this appointment, he began her career as an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut Health Department, where he also served as program director of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Seetharama pursued an education at the Kirorimal College of the University of Delhi, India where he earned a Bachelor of Science in botany, with honors, in 1976. He continued his academic efforts at the Armed Forces Medical College of Pune, India, graduating with a Medical Doctorate in 1981. At West Virginia University, he completed a Master of Science in microbiology in 1986. He was selected for an internship in internal medicine at the Mountain State Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institutions/Ohio Valley Medical Center in 1991 before successfully concluding his studies with a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 1994. He holds certifications in physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury medicine and sports medicine.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Seetharama has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He has participated as a contributor to Rotary International and Dreaming and Working Together, a nonprofit organization seeking to improve the quality of life and bring about sustainable change for the medically underserved population of Lima, Peru. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Spinal Injury Association, and the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Dr. Seetharama has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with the Hartford Hospital Medical Staff Humanitarian Award, the Rotary Foundation District Service award, the Christopher Reeves Foundation and NSCIS SCI Service Excellence Award, the Cheshire YMCA Health and Wellness Award, and the Hartford Hospital John K Springer Humanitarian Award. He was recognized as a Connecticut “TOP DOC,” and received a Diploma de Honor from the Congress of The Republic of Peru and a recognition from the College of Peru and Callao Regional Council for the humanitarian mission to serve the vulnerable population in Callao, Peru.
