Dr. Akanksha Anand, Co-Principal Investigator for the State University of New York (SUNY) and Director and Assistant Professor at SUNY Plattsburgh, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical education and academic administration.
Since 2022, Dr. Anand has excelled as the co-principal investigator for the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Alongside this role, she is the director and assistant professor of SUNY Plattsburgh, before which she served as a research instructor at the City College of New York from 2017 to 2022. From 2020 to 2021, Dr. Anand was a postdoctoral research scientist at the Columbia University School of Nursing, and from 2017 to 2020, she served as an associate instructor for Columbia University. In 2008, she began her career as a communication and advocacy assistant for the United Nations, and from 2012 to 2013, she was an adviser to the commission on the status of women for the United Nations. Prior to her current positions, Dr. Anand was a research investigator at the University of Michigan in 2014 and an adjunct faculty instructor at Fordham University from 2017 to 2020.
In preparation for her career, Dr. Anand obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with honors, from the Lady Shri Ram College for Women, after which she earned a Master of Philosophy in social welfare at Delhi University. She graduated from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences with a master’s degree in medical psychiatric care and completed the executive education advanced management program at Harvard Business School in 2013. In 2020, Dr. Anand concluded her higher education at Fordham University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in policy and health. Alongside her primary roles, she authored “Remarkable Contributions” in 2015 and maintains affiliation with the American Public Health Association and the Society of Social Work Research. In the future, Dr. Anand hopes to make a difference in policy regarding women’s education and empowerment in India.
