As an accomplished medical professional with 20 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Mustapha has excelled since 2018 as the chief executive officer and co-founder of the Advanced Cardiac & Vascular Centers for Amputation Prevention. The practice offers personalized care for cardiac and vascular diseases. Alongside this position, Dr. Mustapha has shared his knowledge as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Critical Limb Ischemia since 2020.

Dr. Mustapha began his career with Metro Health in 2003, which he later served as the director of cardiovascular research from 2009 to 2018. Alongside his primary roles, he is a founding board member of the CLI Global Society and has been an adviser to CLI University since 2010. Also in 2010, Dr. Mustapha founded the Amputation Prevention Symposium, for which he has since served as the director. In 2015, he authored “Critical Limb Ischemia: CLI Diagnostics and Interventions.”

In preparation for his career, Dr. Mustapha attended Wayne State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology in 1991. He continued his education at the St. George University School of Medicine, graduating in 1995 with a Doctor of Medicine. After completing a residency in internal medicine with the Spectrum Health and St. Mary’s Residency Program in 1999, Dr. Mustapha completed a fellowship in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2003.

In addition to his formal degrees, Dr. Mustapha is a fellow of the American Cardiology Conference and the Society of Cardiac Angiographic Interventions. He is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiology, internal medicine and advanced cardiac life support. To keep abreast of his field, Dr. Mustapha maintains affiliation with the Horizons International Peripheral Group, the American College of Cardiology, the American Venous Forum and the American Medical Association, among other organizations. In the future, he hopes to train more physicians and open additional centers with the Advanced Cardiac & Vascular Centers for Amputation Prevention.
